St. David's Welsh Society Booth--
Many didn't even know the Welsh were in Georgia
THEY DO NOW!

The Clans & Societies' Booths--
even with Saturday's rain the turn out was great!

Drums & Pipes in the rain on Saturday Afternoon

The Dewi Sant, Clan Keith & Clan Douglas Tartans

Preparing to March into Church--
Clan Hay, The Welsh, Clan Keith & Clan Douglas

The Bally Beg Band Sunday Afternoon

The Clans & Societies waiting for Church to let out

The Vendors waiting for the same--
and after the Church they came!
This festival may be small in size but HUGE in heart--well worth the drive up I-75 almost to the Tenn. Line. The music is always good, the vendors are friendly and not over priced and the folks staffing the Clan & Societies Booths are a great collection of outgoing folks.

From a Facebook post by Gwynfor Owen, a Plaid candidate from the Porthmadog area:

TAFFY IS A WELSHMAN
Taffy is a Welshman, Taffy is no thief. Someone came to Taffy's house and stole a leg of beef.
Taffy made no protest, for he doesn't like a row, so the someone called on him again and stole the bloody cow.
They stole his coal and iron, they stole his pastures, too. They even stole his language and flushed it down the loo.
Taffy is a Welshman, Taffy is a fool. Taffy voted no, no, no when they offered him home rule.
...Six days a week upon his knees Taffy dug for coal. On the seventh he was kneeling, too, praying for his soul.
And now the mines are closing down and chapel's had its day, Taffy still lives upon his knees, for he knows no other way.
Now sometimes Taffy's brother will start a row or so, but you can bank on Taffy: he doesn't want to know.
For when they hanged Penderyn he had nothing much to say, and when Saunders Lewis went to jail he looked the other way.
Taffy is a Welshman who likes to be oppressed. He was proud to tug his forelock to a Crawshay or a Guest.
They give him tinsel royals, so he has a pint of beer, and sings God Bless the Prince of Wales as he joins the mob to cheer.
Now Taffy is a fighter when he hears the bugle call. Name any war since Agincourt: Taffy's seen them all.
He's fought in France and Germany and many another land; he's fought by sea and fought by air and fought on desert sand.
He's fought for many a foreign flag in many a foreign part, for Taffy is a Welshman, proud of his fighting heart.
He's fought the wide world over, he's given blood and bone. He's fought for every bloody cause; except his bloody own.

Don't Forget Homespun Festival this Friday & Saturday

This weekend is Homespun Festival in the city that the Welsh built: Rockmart, Georgia. There's a ton of fun and exciting things to do and see at the Festival. Whether you are into Gospel, Country or Rock music, 5K races, beauty pageants, great food, fireworks or car shows, the Annual Homespun Festival is the place to be. So fill up the car and we will see you there! We will be in booth 27.

The festival kicks off from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 20, with gospel entertainment provided by Southern Grace, Masters 3 Trio, Miranda Thompson, Purely Acoustic, Victory Road, and Heirborn.

Saturday’s activities will begin with the Crossview Community — Homespun 5k on the Silver Comet Trail. At 10 a.m., the parade will travel through downtown and will feature antics by Shriners, beauty pageant winners, ball players, antique cars, political candidates and more.
Children will find an inflatable obstacle course, pony rides, rock climbing wall and carnival style rides. Little girls in pretty dresses will blossom on stage at 11:05 a.m. when they compete to win the Little Miss Homespun pageant. Erin Terry and The Ballet Garden are also scheduled to perform.
Featured during the afternoon is one of the most popular events of Homespun — the Rotary/ Polk Duck Race, which usually begins around 2 p.m. People gather on the banks of Euharlee Creek to watch little yellow plastic ducks bob along to the finish line when winners are announced.
Visitors seeking something different can view antique or classic cars parked at Richardson Field (across from the park).  After the duck race, the entertainment will be non-stop!

Scheduled to perform are Seth Carter and Dixie Steele, the Preston Summerville Band, Colt Chambers, Nuthin Fancy, Greg Brown and Dust on the Bottle, Lucas McCain, Would Be Thieves, Bennie Gray and the Trailer Park Cowboys. Michael Jack and The Psychedelic will perform prior to the Floyd EMS fireworks extravaganza, which climaxes the day’s activities.

Don't forget to visit the booths in the park and plan on buying your food from one of the many local groups and organizations that set up in the park.  Booth 27 is the Welsh with great Welsh Cakes!
